On June 16th, SMS Assist’s CEO Mike Rothman received the EY Entrepreneur of the Year® 2016 Technology Award in the Midwest category. The award recognizes outstanding entrepreneurs who demonstrate excellence and extraordinary success in such areas as innovation, financial performance, and personal commitment to their businesses and communities.

Mike was selected by an independent panel of judges during a black tie award ceremony held at the Navy Pier Grand Ballroom, where he was cheered on by members of the SMS Team. His acceptance of this award puts him in great company - other winners from Chicago-based companies included Brad Wilson, CEO of online deals site Brad’s Deals; Thomas Scott, founder and CEO of investment firm CA Ventures; and ContextMedia co-founders Rishi Shah and Shradha Agarwal.

“It’s an incredible honor to be included in this group of visionary, talented winners and nominees,” said Rothman. “Our revolutionary technology is central to our explosive growth. This award from Ernst & Young is a powerful validation of our innovation and there’s much more to come.”

Now in the running for EY’s Entrepreneur of the Year 2016 national program, Mike is invited to attend the Strategic Growth Forum and National Awards Gala in Palm Desert, California, this November, where national award winners will be announced. The overall national US winner goes on to compete for the World Entrepreneur of the Year title in Monaco in 2017.
